A New Member of the Flock-The Winter Sheep

One of my Christmas presents was a membership for the Woodland Park Zoo. And one of my favorite places there is the Family Farm. During the summer they have a petting area. Right now it is rather quiet.

I last made sheep pastels in 2007 but as often happens my interest in subjects cycles around.

I usually draw and take photos because the animals don't always stay put.

This lovely girl makes a great reference. Look how unbalanced she appears, as though she is about to trip.

Oil pastels on Yupo. Yupo is a plastic so the pastels smooth around and can be scrapped off. I scrapped much of the background and reapplied pastel on some areas
